Your LMG’s ‘Rest in Print’ farewell party at the Dragon Room

Friday 8 November 2013

I had my first music photo published in LMG magazine in mid 2011, and did my first editorial shoot for them in November the same year. In the 2 years since then I’ve covered loads of gigs for the mag, had the privilege to shoot 3 covers and met some great people in the LMG family. So, like many, I was really sad to see October’s issue of LMG had a gravestone on the cover and the headline Rest In Print.

It’s the end of an era, a bittersweet sign of the times – LMG will now exist solely online. Going out in style after 5 years and 77 issues, the printed mag was laid to rest at an epic 3-stage party at the Dragon Room on Friday.

The 19th Cape Town International Kite Festival in Muizenberg

Sunday 3 November 2013

On the first weekend of November the Zandvlei nature reserve in Muizenberg once again played host to the CT International Kite Festival. Sunday was a beautiful summer day with a good wind: perfect kite-flying conditions for both the public and the professionals.

The Cape Town Zombie Walk 2013

Saturday 26 October 2013

Last year’s Cape Town zombie walk was the first I attended and I had an awesome time. Back again for the fourth time, this year’s walk took place in the city centre – from Thibault square to the museum, along St. George’s Mall and the Avenue in the Company’s Garden. Though town was a bit quiet the urban setting was fantastic and the zombie horde managed to successfully scare a bunch of unsuspecting citizens…

Rocking the Daisies 2013: Saturday

Saturday 5 October 2013

The combination of the bitter cold and my inability to find a comfortable position meant I hardly slept on Friday night. Still, I woke up feeling surprisingly energised. It was the big day of Rocking the Daisies with all of the big internationals on the bill: Skunk Anansie, Boys Noize, The Hives and Alt-J. If I’d been feeling unconvinced of my enjoyment of the festival on Friday, Saturday would lay those feelings to rest – the headliners smashed my expectations and blew my mind.

Rocking the Daisies 2013: Friday

Friday 4 October 2013

Last year was my first time at Rocking the Daisies and I was impressed by the size and professionalism of the festival. I’ll be honest, while this year’s Saturday’s internationals totally blew my mind (and expectations), I found the Friday pretty rough. That said, there were still some great moments; Friday highlights for me included The Dirty Skirts’ reunion and the testosterone-drenched Black Cat Bones.
