Party Town: Make-Overs, The Future Primitives, The Dollfins & Black Lung at Carnival Court

Long weekend up the Garden Route

Last year I spent a weekend in Knysna and have been dying to go back ever since; 2 weeks ago my wish was granted when I once again joined Jess and Leon for a wonderful getaway along the beautiful Garden Route.

There had been warnings all week that a huge storm was to hit Cape Town on the first weekend of June, and the warnings had been right. The rain was almost relentless and Saturday was was a night to be spent at home under a warm blanket – not a lot of gigs could have persuaded me otherwise, but Fox Comet‘s album launch was something that simply could not be missed…

Dutch tall ships at the Waterfront

12 & 14 May
2013

Following pretty closely after last month’s Russian Sedov, two weeks ago the V&A Waterfront docks were graced by 3 more tall ships, this time Dutch – the Tecla, Europa and Oosterschelde. We checked them out on Mother’s Day when they were open to the public and then watched them depart for Durban the morning of the 14th.
