Aboard the 92 year old Russian Sailing ship, The Sedov
Tuesday 23 April 2013
Stopping over briefly in Cape Town as part of its tour around the world, the 92 year old Barque Sedov is the world’s oldest sailing ship still in operation. Built in Germany in the 1920s and under the Russian flag since the end of WWII, the ship is currently a training vessel for the Naval School at the Murmansk Technical University.
On Tuesday, Russian band Mumiy Troll performed a show on board the Sedov (with support from Long Time Citizen) for Rolling Stone SA‘s ‘The Story’; sadly I couldn’t stay for the performance but I did have a great time joining the other wide-eyed visitors wandering around the ship and watching the Russian band soundcheck.

Zip Zap Circus workshop with Cirque du Soleil Dralion at the Grand Arena
Friday 15 March 2013
Prior to attending Friday night’s performance of Cirque du Soleil’s stunning show Dralion, I had the privilege of joining a short media briefing and attending part of Cirque du Soleil’s workshop with the Zip Zap Circus School as well as getting a quick tour backstage.
