Live frontman Ed Kowalczyk is marking the 20th anniversary of Throwing Copper by touring and performing the album in its entirety in a stripped down and intimate fashion along with guitarist Zak Loy.

Last week One Eight Seven, Alive at Midnight, Peasant and touring Spaniards Bolleria Industrial put on one of the most insane shows I’ve been to in a long, long time. Everything from the venue (the undeniably seedy yet somehow endearing Club Med, and the only place where I’ve ever seen Simba chips for sale at the bar) to the beer-mud and glass-shard minefield that was the dancefloor amplified the intense punk ethos of the show.

From not going in months I found myself at Mercury two nights in a row – this second time it was for the Rudimentals‘ screening of their Rudeboy Styles music video and live set, with support from Los Tacos and Voodoo.

Like a lot of people, I was really sad when Mercury announced it was closing. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, it was saved from the brink and is now back up and running. I’ve been slack in checking the revamped venue out but finally did so for a really fun gig – Rocking the Road to Zombie Fest featuring Verona Walls, Black Moscow, Dukes of Note and Room of Phonics.
A while back I did another press shoot with The Taros. It was a lot of fun – I always enjoy working with them.
