I recently spent a wintry hour outside among the rusting trees with BRYNN to take some press shots. Here are a few of my favourites from the shoot.

A beautiful evening in a beautiful venue: Gary Thomas launched his new musical project in Long Street’s old slave church last Thursday to a small but appreciative crowd. As musically intricate and interesting as ever, I was surprised to learn he’s also funny, and greatly enjoyed the relaxed intimate vibe and beautiful sounds.
Here are some shots from the show.
Relocating to Berlin was undoubtedly a great and very necessary decision for Medicine Boy. While spreading their wings abroad sadly means that they don’t play locally much anymore it also makes their visits back home that much more special; I really enjoyed their recent show at Mercury which featured frequent collaborators Werner von Waltsleben and Hezron Chetty as well as a special appearance from Simon Ratcliffe and an arresting and emotionally intense opening set from Clayton Human.
The Sleepers, one of my long-time favourites, performed a very special show at Mercury recently to celebrate the decade-long anniversary of A Signal Path.
It was a nostalgic and emotional night, so much so that I struggled a bit to express my feelings in words but tried nevertheless: pictures and musings after the jump.
It was quite surreal to watch and shoot this show, and very, very special – The Cure were incredible and the local lineup did themselves and SA proud.
Here are some photos from the amazing Rock on the Lawns last month, featuring* Fokofpolisiekar, a once(well, technically ‘twice’ as they performed in Joburg too)-off re-union show from Zebra & Giraffe, Ard Matthews, Karen Zoid, Opposite the Other, Southern Wild, Hellcats and of course the legendary Cure.
*Also on the line-up were Diamond Thug but unfortunately I missed their performance.
