It’s that time of year again – Halloween, time for dressing up, taking to the streets and scaring kids. Even though I’m a zombie myself at the moment (this year’s flu is a really nasty one) I couldn’t stay in bed on Saturday – so, for the third year in a row I attended the Cape Town Zombie Walk (actually a charity event held in aid of the Lucky Lucy Foundation) and, as usual, had loads of fun.
I must confess I preferred last year’s route (which was circular, as opposed to this year’s one-way trek, starting at the Company’s Garden and ending in Thibault Square) and found this year a bit lacking in cohesion (due no doubt to the sheer number of participants) and mood (too many smiling zombies and a lot less shuffling and moaning this time around).
Still, as I mentioned above, there was a massive increase in participants this year and the walkers seemed to come forever. So that was really cool, and as usual there were those who went all out with really great costumes and some believable acting, leaving a trail of weeping children and genuinely freaked out adults in their wake. So another successful walk then!
