Last Saturday was one of the most surreal and enjoyable nights I’ve had in a long time – Ulterior, The Frown, The Wild Eyes and DJs Destrukto and Audiophile 021 put on an awesome show, the only problem was no-one showed up. People of Cape Town, you really missed out…
It’d been a while since I’d seen Van Coke Kartel, Foto na Dans and Bateleur – all awesome live bands I always enjoy watching – who along with La.Vi made up the formidable line-up at The Assembly last Saturday. I had high expectations and wasn’t disappointed.
I’ve mentioned that I’m not Zula’s biggest fan and so generally avoid going there. I’ll break my boycott for certain line-ups though, and last Friday’s qualified: Woodstock Mafia launched their EP (well worth a listen) along with Wolftown and The Great Apes. Plus Juke Royal were playing downstairs, a nice bonus.
Haven’t had the time to participate in Illustration Friday lately but this week’s theme was too cool to ignore.
