Van Coke Kartel were always my favourite of the whole Van–Fok–King–Tasties school of bands. I first saw them in 2009 or 10 and have thoroughly enjoyed their shows over the years. Saying goodbye is never easy but they went out in true style: their final show, at the same venue as their first ever show, met every expectation.
Retro Dizzy and the Sweet Resistance did a good job as opening acts but the crowd were really only their for the headliners, and no sooner had Francois Van Coke appeared on the stage when he was grabbed by the masses in an epic crowd-surf move. And it only got crazier from then on; truly a night that I’ll remember for a long time.
