George Ezra recently played an all-ages show at the Durbanville Racecourse with the support of Beatenberg, Hot Water and Bongeziwe Mabandla. The northern suburbs venue made a nice change from the city, and gave what could’ve been a Kirstenbosch show the vibe of Rocking the Daisies meets the Met; I’m not the biggest fan of anywhere with kids running around all over the place but there was ample space for them at the racecourse and the 8pm curfew gave the whole day a festival/family picnic vibe. Plus if I was a 14 year old Ezra fan (and there was no shortage of them) I’d be delighted to be able to go to the show, so it was cool making it all-ages. And a cool show it was too, horrendous and unnecessary Macy Gray cover notwithstanding.
Here are some shots from the event.
