On Thursday, Yoav played a final Cape Town show at the Assembly, and, as usual, was totally fantastic. The other two acts were good matches for him, also doing the singer-songwriter-loop-pedal-one-man-band thing, though Jeremy was billed as “Jeremy Loops & Co” (“& Co” took the form of a rapper while we were there) and Farryl was joined by Ross Campbell on drums.
We arrived in time to catch the last few tracks from Jeremy Loops (& Co) – I’d never heard him before and was pretty impressed.
Afterwards came Farryl Purkiss, whom I’d heard of, but never heard. His stuff was really nice too, spacey and quite hypnotic…
And then the ever-awesome Yoav.
Afterwards we went and said hi to Yoav, (along with quite a crowd) who was very friendly, and my brother’s night was made when he posed with him for a picture. My mom & I met Farryl too and he was also really nice (I didn’t meet Jeremy but did tell ‘& Co’ that they were cool when he joined the crowd after their set…).
I’m glad you enjoyed the little bit of our act that you saw. It was an awesome evening all in all.
If you’re at all interested in seeing more of what we do, we have a pretty hectic week this week, with Rafiki’s on Thursday and Knoxville on Saturday. For first time viewers, I’d definitely recommend Rafiki’s, since we have a residency there and have a very good sense of how wild it gets.
Let us know if you’re coming through, and we’d definitely love to chat to you, share a drink even, prior to the gig.
Oh, and thanks again for your kind words.
Hey there
Thanks and you’re welcome, sorry I didn’t catch more of you guys…I’ll try to make it on Thursday though, sounds really cool.
Cheers :)
