I love moths. I’ve wanted to do something with them for a while, so I stole a few hours last night to draw this. The ones featured are based on an Atlas, Chinese Luna (both from the fanciest moth family, the Saturniidae) and Garden Tiger, which sadly all live nowhere near where I do. I generally only ever see little dusty grey ones, so I included one like that in the picture too.
I love Kirstenbosch, it’s a really beautiful place, but sadly I don’t visit that often…but free entrance is a great incentive – this is a combined post of my last 2 visits: World Biodiversity Day on May 22nd and the garden’s 100th birthday on July 1st.
While I spent my birthday feeling miserably with flu, I really enjoyed the day before which included a walk around the beautiful roses at Chart Farm.
Saturday was a night of intense energy and sweaty claustrophobia courtesy of 3 of Cape Town’s power trios, The Future Primitives, The Dollfins and Black Lung as well as probably the loudest duo in the country, the epic Make-Overs from Pretoria.
Last year I spent a weekend in Knysna and have been dying to go back ever since; 2 weeks ago my wish was granted when I once again joined Jess and Leon for a wonderful getaway along the beautiful Garden Route.
