Mid April I joined my dad, my uncle and the rest of McCully Workshop on a short roadtrip to Oudtshoorn where the band played 3 shows at Die Boer as part of the KKNK. Here are some shots from their soundcheck and various shows.
Back in 2007 I went on an epic matric trip to the KKNK in Oudtshoorn. Recently I joined my dad and headed back to the town/fest for the first time in 8 years. Even though we were there at the tail-end of the festival (the last few days) I was surprised at how quiet things were…and at how little some of the things/places I remember from last time around had changed.
It was a long drive and the actual time we spent in Oudtshoorn was quite stressful unfortunately, so I didn’t really get to explore or shoot a lot. I did take a few touristy snapshots though…
I stopped in at Kill City Blues on Thursday for a quick shoot with the fun guys from FILTH – here are some of the resulting shots.
Plane issues forced American indie rockers Portugal. The Man to postpone their Friday 20th concert to last Wednesday; unfortunately needing to catch another plane immediately after the show meant they couldn’t play a super long encore, but they put on a really great show nevertheless.
Last Friday Dead Lucky, Juggernaught, FILTH and Hellbent and Hammered took to the Manila Bar with all the energy, aggression and intense volume that such a lineup promised…even with earplugs I still came home slightly deafened but that was to be expected, after all the event was called ‘Loud as Fuck’…
