I really enjoyed Tresor’s show at Cafe Roux – he’s one of those artists whose music I couldn’t say I’d consciously heard before but I recognised 3 or 4 tracks from the radio as soon as they started.
Tresor’s story is one of hard work and talent paying off: originally from the DRC, he worked as a car and security guard during the past 8 years he’s lived in SA, working to fulfil his musical ambitions. He went on to win best pop album at last year’s SAMMAs.
His achievements are definitely well deserved – he’s a great performer.
A totally beautiful show in an equally beautiful venue, Lucy Kruger‘s album launch with the Lost Boys was a very intimate and special evening.

Handsdown the fullest I’ve seen a venue for a local gig in a long time – from 9:30 the street outside Mercury was totally parked up and by the time headliners Desmond & the Tutus took to the stage the place was packed to bursting. Ann Jangle always puts on a captivating show, and her performance at Cafe Roux (accompanied by guitarist Basson Laubscher and Jess van der Merwe on the sax) was no exception, including interesting anecdotes and even a mother’s day shout out to Mother Jangle it was a very entertaining night.
