I’ve been following Illustration Friday since 2009 but never got around to actually participating…so here’s my first contribution, Lepus Sleepus; I’m taking some artistic liberties here as ‘lepus’ refers to hares and not burrowing rabbits like these but I just like the way the phrase sounds…
Initially it was just the one rabbit, but he looked lonely…

As I’ve mentioned previously, I’ve been a big fan of The Wild Eyes for ages. They played a claustrophobic show at the Kimberley Hotel on Saturday, organised by Your LMG Magazine, and I had a great time.
So Saturday May 21 was supposed to be the rapture, or the end of the world or whatever…obviously it wasn’t, which is a little embarrassing for the Camping Clan but just as well as the 6pm apocalypse would’ve meant missing out on a night of fun at the Assembly with Gazelle, Jeremy Loops & Co and Two Minute Puzzle.
The middle part of Wednesday is a blur of fever and delirium – I started feeling really sick round lunchtime and was then comatose till round 8. I hate sleeping in the afternoon because I always wake up disorientated and mildly freaked out; luckily I felt significantly less sick upon waking and was still determined to head to the Purple Turtle and attempt to survive what was sure to be a night of madness and high energy with Jax Panik.
After rising early in the morning and blackening my thumb for democracy, I took the first cable car up Table Mountain and spent the morning walking through the mist and tourists on the top.
