Usually the weekend of a big festival means precious little entertainment back home for those not attending. Luckily for everyone who didn’t go to Up The Creek, there was some great stuff happening in Stellenbosch, like Friday’s Campus Invasion Tour at the Klein Libertas, featuring an epic line-up of KONGOS, Bittereinder, Van Coke Kartel, Yesterday’s Pupil & Dead Lucky.
Before heading to the Klein Libertas Teater for the Campus Invasion Tour, we visited the University of Stellenbosch Botanical Gardens (because, as far as I’m concerned, no visit to Stellenbosch is complete without doing so).

A derelict mansion in Bishopscourt is a really unique venue for an album launch – and, as it turns out, it was also a really fitting backdrop for the atmospheric electronica of Markus Wormstorm and his mini orchestra.
One of the gigs associated with the Southern Ink Xposure Cape Town Tattoo Convention, Hold Fast had a fitting line-up of bluesy rock, manic rockabilly and raw rock madness, courtesy of Wolftown, Them Tornados and The Great Apes respectively.
Now in its 4th year, the Cape Town Tattoo Convention was once again held at the BMW Pavilion at the V&A Waterfront. The expo consisted of live tattooing from an impressive collection of local and international artists, performances by acrobats and exotic dancers, art on display, sales and merchandise stands as well an outdoor bar/beer tent and themed putt-putt course.
It was my first time at the convention and I really enjoyed wandering around and talking to various artists.
