Seems there’s been a surge of international indie bands playing smaller shows in interesting venues around SA lately, something that’s super exciting and pretty damn awesome. Our most recent visitors were American group Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, who performed at the Wittebome Civic Centre in Wynberg along with Spoek Mathambo and Beach Party.
There was a lot going on in Cape Town last Thursday, so the crowd at the Kimbo was pretty modest. Still, the three power trios on the bill showed their appreciation with unrelenting energy and sheer volume…

I’ve had a weird month and haven’t really gotten out much, so figured a night of blues courtesy of Crimson House Blues and friends would be a good way to ease back into things…
I’ve been having a bit of a tough time lately – I’m stressed and miserable and generally not cracking it, it’s pretty bleak. A bit of escapism can go a long way in dark times, even if the effect is not permanent; on Monday I took the day off work to visit the World of Birds and am so very glad I did.
