Since the beginning of February, I’ve been taking photos for #Tuesonfire at &Union, the brainchild of Tecla Ciolfi/@Texxonfire. If you visit &Union on a Tuesday, you can expect a chilled evening outdoors featuring stripped down, acoustic performances from a variety of interesting musicians, and all for free.

The first weekend of May was the annual olive festival in Riebeek Kasteel & Riebeek West. While my mom and I have been to the Riebeek Valley a few times, we’d been just once before to the olive fest and were keen to check it out again, so we went up on Sunday May 6.
I’ll admit, spiders are not my favourite creatures. I don’t hate them though, I mean if there’s a cockroach in close proximity I’ll run away screaming until someone else has dealt with it…but with spiders, I just try to give them their space and leave them alone. At the beginning of April my brother found an amazing gold web in our garden, constructed and inhabited by one of the most interesting spiders we’d ever seen.
We learned she was a Golden Orb Weaver, and were so taken by her that we gave her a name – Goldie.
With one of the more eclectic line-ups I’d seen in a while, Your LMG‘s party at Mercury last Friday had something for everyone – 7ft Soundsystem’s dubbiness, The Nomadic Orchestra’s infectious Balkaness and PH Fat’s electrorap dirtiness.
It’d been a long while since I last saw The Sleepers, too long in fact – so last week I went to watch them at Mercury (against an intriguing, projected backdrop), along with Black Moscow and Wild Eastern Arches.
