June in the Company’s Garden

I’ve been calling it ‘The Company Gardens’ for years but the area surrounding the National Art Gallery, Museum and Planetarium is actually called ‘The Company’s Garden’. Oops. Anyway, like many Capetonians, I’ve visited the gardens often over the years and have many a fond childhood memory of wandering around, chasing squirrels and feeding birds.

I spent a wonderful winter’s Saturday in the gardens soaking up some beauty and happiness before a shoot for Your LMG. That short stroll along the avenue was one of the loveliest I’ve had in a long time – it’s such a beautiful place, especially at this time of year :)

Tape Hiss and Sparkle ‘Paperhawk’ album launch with Mesmer at Obviouzly Armchair

After feeling sick and miserable most of the week, I can think of no better way to have eased into the weekend than Tape Hiss and Sparkle’s album launch last Friday. Not only was the music lovely (both TH&S and supporting act Mesmer’s) but the event started and ended nice and early, something for which my flu-ridden self was most grateful.

Kanyi for Your LMG

At the end of May, I had the honour of shooting my second cover for Your LMG. Adrian and I met Kanyi outside the Gugulethu Mall one rainy Saturday and the first thing she asked us was ‘have you been up onto the roof?’ From her first enthusiastic scramble onto the parking lot roof to her energetic jumping off an old Beetle, Kanyi was a pleasure to work with.

We spent the day visiting her haunts; here is the final printed magazine as well as some unpublished shots.
