I haven’t posted an album review before so think it fitting that my first should be of one of the most anticipated releases of the year (as far as I’m concerned) – Yoav’s third album Blood Vine.
It’s a stylistic departure, but, much like its predecessors, there is a beautiful darkness (and an occasional Middle Eastern undercurrent) that runs through the album which makes the slower songs particularly haunting. A great album and a grower, it’s definitely one to stick on repeat.
A new festival is always exciting, especially when it’s something different. Enter The Cape Town World Music festival, a weekend inner-city gathering of local and international artists playing a mix of music styles.
Thunder and lightning isn’t very common down in Cape Town, but it’s weather I really love. I sat outside in the rain and wind last night with my brother (he has uncanny lightning precognition) watching the lightning over the mountains and was lucky to get a few shots, below is my favourite one.
I’ve never photographed lightning before but it’s been something I’ve wanted to do for a while. Hooray for beautiful evenings in the Cape.
