My first show back at (the newly revamped) Mercury in quite a while was courtesy of Psych Night and featured the Dutch Mauscovic Dance Band, the captivating Sun Xa Experiment and the atmospheric Perfect Boy.

Bonobo’s concert at Kirstenbosch was my first big shoot of 2019, and I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the show – the music and performances were awesome and the lighting was beautiful. It truly set a high tone for the rest of the year!

I felt a disconnect to music in 2017, but happily things improved in 2018. While I didn’t listen to that many new releases I did listen to a lot of older music (mostly from familiar artists) that I either hadn’t heard or hadn’t connected with before and for a while I got pretty obsessed with music again, which was a great feeling. So while the bulk of the albums I listened to this last year were actually not released in 2018 there was some great current stuff in there too.

The last day of our trip saw us in Rennes on a Saturday morning, which meant we could check out the market and explore a bit of the town before catching our train to the airport.
Our last day of driving took us from Carnac to Rennes via (accidentally) ‘France’s favourite village’ – an actual award it received in 2016 – Rochefort-en-terre, as well as pretty riverside town and some menhirs in St. Just.
