After Dark ’19: Shadowclub & Manu Grace

After a sold-out run last year, Texx and The City’s After Dark series is back at the Two Oceans Aquarium for 4 more shows this year. The first of which paired Shadowclub with Manu Grace against the simultaneously calming and riveting backdrop of the I&J Predator Exhibit.

Gary Thomas: Moodship at the old slave church

A beautiful evening in a beautiful venue: Gary Thomas launched his new musical project in Long Street’s old slave church last Thursday to a small but appreciative crowd. As musically intricate and interesting as ever, I was surprised to learn he’s also funny, and greatly enjoyed the relaxed intimate vibe and beautiful sounds.

Medicine Boy & Clayton Human at Mercury

Relocating to Berlin was undoubtedly a great and very necessary decision for Medicine Boy. While spreading their wings abroad sadly means that they don’t play locally much anymore it also makes their visits back home that much more special; I really enjoyed their recent show at Mercury which featured frequent collaborators Werner von Waltsleben and Hezron Chetty as well as a special appearance from Simon Ratcliffe and an arresting and emotionally intense opening set from Clayton Human.
