I love Club Med, it’s just a great venue (especially for heavier bands) and gigs there are always loads of fun. Last Saturday was no exception, with a great show courtesy of Infanteria, Peasant and Ohgod. Here are some shots from the night.

Compound Underground: Dustland Express, Past Haunts & Atlantic South at Mercury

Sat 27
August 2016

It was a really quiet night unfortunately but in spite of that the bands all put on great shows and the intimacy of the small crowd actually made everything feel pretty casual and relaxed and jokes and smiles abounded.

Here are some shots of Dustland Express, Past Haunts and Atlantic South at Mercury at the end of August.

Southern Wild, Caelo, The Dirty South & Trucks and Buckets at Mercury

Sat
30 July
2016

Mercury wasn’t packed for this month-end show but the crowd were enthusiastic, especially for headliners Southern Wild (some guys didn’t stop screaming for joy throughout SW’s performance). They always put on a great show and I enjoyed their set a lot but musically the standout act of the night for me was Caelo, whose pretty unusual sound struck me in the best way possible.

Here are some shots of them as well as opening and closing acts Trucks and Buckets and the Dirty South.

Shortstraw, Grassy Spark, Young Hands & Veladraco at Manila Bar

Fri
29 July
2016

Balloons, a pinata, crowd-surfing and not least of all a formidable line-up of high energy bands came together at Manila the last weekend of July, where the space got so packed with sweaty revelers it was really tough negotiating my way around the front of the stage.

Not even a power black-out during Grassy Spark‘s set (which resulted in me substituting my camera for my phone/torch to provide some stage light for the second half of their set) could put a damper on the crowd’s spirits – if anything they took it as a challenge and resolved to party extra hard, both in the dark and once the lights came back.
