Club Med played host to another chaotic night of high energy courtesy of Italian hardcore punks Slander in mid-September. The Italians were good but for all their hype I have to say I was a little disappointed – it was actually FREExMONEY’s set was the standout of the night for me. Young Hands were a lot of fun too and One Eight Seven were great, as they always are.

By day 3 of Oppikoppi 2016 I was well and truly feeling like death. Two nights of no sleep and a relentless fever are not conducive to a happy festival experience…but what can you do? I think I just shut off my mind and let my body lumber around as best it could by itself.
Like with Saturday (or a brutal hangover) I really don’t remember the details at all, but here are the pictures…
Oppikoppi gets cold at night… But like really, really cold. So the fact that I spent Friday night sweating in my bed made me rather concerned… Yup, the flu finally got me, and it made the rest of my weekend a living hell.
I honestly don’t remember shooting a lot of these images let alone the actual performances…so here’s a look at how I zombied my way through Saturday at Oppikoppi 2016 on autopilot…
It’s taken me longer than it should have to post about Oppikoppi. The truth is that I fell in love with the fest last year (my first time) and couldn’t wait to go back, but sadly this year was a write-off for me because I spent the weekend very sick.
Working a festival is hard at the best if times, but trying to negotiate one on the scale of Koppi while you’re running a fever and struggling to walk is straight up hell.
When I got back home I was sick for the rest of the month. I haven’t had a flu that horrendous… Well, ever. By the time I finally recovered, at the beginning of September, I’d lost so much work that I didn’t have time to actually reflect on Koppi at all let alone post my hundreds of shots.
Now, nearly 3 months later, I’ve finally got a minute to do this. So here goes – here’s day one of Oppikoppi 2016 (or, the decent day before my immune system crashed).
I had the opportunity to shoot something a bit gritty for a change when I did a press shoot with metal band Bulletscript on heritage day. We found a great (well, in terms of the vibe we were looking for) location in Woodstock in the form of a gutted building and in spite of having to wade through literal piles of rubbish it was a really fun shoot.
