I visited Pretoria for the first time for the Halloween party at the Voortrekker Monument. It was a great party featuring 3 stages and performances from Americans Alien Ant Farm, Fokofpolisiekar, Van Pletzen, PHFAT, The Plastics, Hello Beautiful, The Tazers and loads more.
Lights Out got the crowd at Cafe Roux moving, a lot. Here are some shots from their show last Saturday.
My train back to Stockholm was at 12 and I’d promised a friend I’d take a photo of the Hasselblad HQ for him, so I got up really early to catch the ferry there and took a quick walk around Haga on my way.
I don’t know why but many of my favourite bands are Scandinavian, and Swedish in particular. Kent’s farewell tour was the catalyst that finally sent me to Sweden and Tiger Lou’s resurrection tour was the cherry on top; I spent my last night in Sweden at their show in Gothenburg – it was truly special and I’m so glad I could be there.
A relatively last minute addition to my itinerary was visiting Gothenburg. It was, once again, a ‘stars aligning’ kind of thing where Tiger Lou, another of my favourite bands, happened to be playing and my accommodation was flexible enough to let me head to the west coast and back in time for my plane home. So on Friday morning I left Stockholm early and took the train to the other side of Sweden and had one of the longest and most enjoyable days of my whole trip.
