2016
By day 3 of Oppikoppi 2016 I was well and truly feeling like death. Two nights of no sleep and a relentless fever are not conducive to a happy festival experience…but what can you do? I think I just shut off my mind and let my body lumber around as best it could by itself.
Like with Saturday (or a brutal hangover) I really don’t remember the details at all, but here are the pictures…
I really enjoyed Medicine Boy‘s set – the special addition of Hezron Chetty was particularly magical (I never knew a violin could sound so psychedelic).
Gunshot Blue were also really cool…
Yelawolf were very entertaining. Though I wasn’t overly impressed the amount of Black Label that wound up all over the photographers…dammit Catfish Billy, a little warning would’ve been nice.
I saw KONGOS a bunch of times the last times they were here and while I’m a fan I was over everything by the time they took to the stage and enjoyed the majority of their set from the relative comfort of my tent before embracing oblivion and passing out.
Somehow I survived, but the physical and mental exertion at Koppi would cost me dearly and I spent the rest of the month in bed with the worst flu I’ve ever had. At the time it was hell, but already the trauma is fading as the months go by and I find myself looking back and almost thinking ‘maybe it wasn’t actually that bad’…but really I know it was. Sorry Koppi but you really hurt me this time round.
…I can’t stay mad at you though; for all the suffering the good parts were pretty damn epic. I know I’ll be back , just please go easy on me next time, okay?
