Though the Dusty Rebels & The Bombshells festival has been running for three years, this year was my first. It was fantastic, one-day festivals really are great – there was loads to do but the overall vibe was super chilled and laid-back and I never felt like I had to rush to see everything which makes a change from most festivals.
Aside from varied vendor stands, fairground rides, a dirt track, roller derby demo, fashion show, loads of classic and vintage cars and bikes, burlesque dancers and SA’s first Miss Bombshell Betty beauty pageant (winners included Marilyn Deathrow, Genny Genocide and Bird), the fest also featured a great musical line-up. Martin Rocka & The Sick Shop, The Damned Crows, Them Tornados, The Ratrod Cats, Mr Cat & The Jackal, The Dixie Pricks, Dan Valley & The Countrymen, Medicine Boy and The Taros all provided the perfect soundtrack for a day of throwback fun.
I had a great time and really loved the event, here are some photos.
