{"id":19557,"date":"2015-11-21T13:16:01","date_gmt":"2015-11-21T11:16:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lauramccullagh.com\/blog\/?p=19557"},"modified":"2015-11-21T13:16:01","modified_gmt":"2015-11-21T11:16:01","slug":"celadon-of-bowls-and-boots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/lauramccullagh.com\/blog\/2015\/11\/celadon-of-bowls-and-boots\/","title":{"rendered":"Celadon: of bowls and boots"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"eventDate\">Sat 21 November 2015<\/div>\n<p>I&#8217;ve always had a thing for dusty blue-green shades\u00a0and\u00a0today I learned a beautiful word for one of those colours:\u00a0celadon. \u00a0While at the Potter&#8217;s Market this morning, <a href=\"http:\/\/johnthepotter.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\">John the Potter<\/a>\u00a0commented on my boots, saying he&#8217;d never seen a pair of &#8220;celadon Dr Martens&#8221;. Seeing my blank expression\u00a0he explained the origin of the word to me &#8211; back in the day the ceramics world was obsessed and overrun with blue and white porcelain but the French decided to start using\u00a0a different colour\u00a0from China, a light greeny turquoise.
